All of the art is original and was found in neat little flea markets and shops from all over. However, professional photographer Cameron Krone, Marilyn's son, took the black and white photograph of squirrels jumping up for food in a park in Atlanta. Guest Michael Walker from Sylvania, Ohio gifted us the smaller squirrel photo. Karen Dittman, local American Folk Artist did the Squirrel painting on screen. The shower bathroom was renovated with a tile floor and a locally made sink vanity originally built for this cabin. All linens are provided. |

The front porch features two wood rocking chairs and a small cafe table with 2 chairs. We found a designer squirrel feeder made by a local artist for your viewing if one might happen to come by for a nut or two. Old shutters hug the outside windows. A gas grill is provided for your outdoor dining pleasure. Or if you prefer to enjoy a meal outside on a beautiful spring or autumn day, we have a separate picnic area with a picnic table just off the porch down the trail. We have also provided a Welcome Book in the cabin with brochures and information on activities in the area or check our activities page, where we have provided you with many links to websites of interest for research before your arrival. |
You may not know but the white squirrel is unique to this area. The rumor says that a circus came through in the 1940's, which featured a pair of white squirrels. When their cage turned over, they escaped. They have since bred in this area but are not albinos, rather true white squirrels. Some people say that this species is not registered as part of the squirrel family. We haven't investigated this to be true or not. You may be lucky enough to see one during your stay, one was spotted not to long ago. Have your camera ready, just in case! |
