This
lodge was designed for the special guest in mind! This cabin is has 1200 spacious sq. ft., with most all
of the luxuries and modern conveniences of home. It features
a Jacuzzi hot tub on the back deck, a king size
bed in the upstairs loft bedroom and two twin beds on the
main level with two full size baths. Totally secluded and nestled in the woods, perched on top of the hill overlooking Toxaway Mountain. Could be used as the main house for family gatherings.

It also features a large complete kitchen, central heat/air, washer/dryer, dishwasher, satellite TV/VCR/DVD. telephone,
large gas stone fireplace, three outdoor porches and
beautifully appointed furnishings. The walls are made of
poplar and floors are pinewood.

The dining table and chairs seat six people with extra seating nearby on the back porch for overflow. The chandelier over table was an old planer and was rewired
and custom fit for this purpose.

The
living room is a combination of old and new. It features a new leather sofa and a very comfortable Amish wood glider chair (purchased from Toxaway Falls on Hwy 64, stop by for some boiled peanuts!) A plush chair also faces a TV Mexican corner cabinet, which houses the TV/VCR, a DVD player and a cassette/radio player. If you find yourself nestled in front of the gas fireplace on a rainy or snowy day, be sure to check in the cabinet underneath for some fun games and videos. Rustic elements, such as a twig buffet table,
will welcome you with information in our "Welcome Book" of activities from the surrounding area. We used antique
horn mirrors and vintage horn adornments on the all poplar
wood walls.

Artist,
Becky Zyman of Atlanta, created the large painting over
fireplace. You are unmistakably in the Deer Lodge with the
many deer antique and new accessories. We were very fortunately
to have found many wonderful fabrics featuring the deer
family and many custom made pieces are sprinkled throughout.
We
decided on a kilim ottoman instead of a conventional coffee
table for the dual purpose of seating extra people by the
fireplace or for books or other items. This is great place
to curl up in the winter too! Most of the rugs throughout
were hand made from Michaelian & Kohlberg in Saluda, NC.
It is a great place to visit if you need rugs. The
large area rug in the living room is a one of a kind design.
The wall blanket on living room wall is a vintage buggy
blanket from Scotland. Most of the accessories and artwork
are original and were found in antique shops in the local
and surrounding area.

The
master bedroom has a beautiful king size bed featuring a
designer iron and wood headboard with a Patch Magic colorful quilt
and decorative pillows with an antique bench at it's foot.
A local craftsman made the side tables with swing arm wall
lamps for easy reading and to give you extra space. One
can take in the latest book while relaxing on the adjacent
rocker.

A
writing desk locally hand built with natural twigs and rustic
woods gives ample space to write a post card or letter. The spacious
bathroom features a large closet and has a full size tub
and shower. The vanity cabinet custom made from hickory
with a sitting place to put on your make up with a custom
fit marble top giving you ample room for your belongings.
The bamboo roll shades give you the privacy you deserve.

The
downstairs bedroom features twin headboards with carved
wildlife figures that we had flown in from out west. The beds are
adorned with colorful quilts with pillows featuring deer
families. All of the curtains, shams and bed skirts are
from Patch Magic. The antique lowboy dresser was found
at Sylvan Antiques right here in Brevard, NC. Guests can enjoy watching TV/VCR in their own privacy while others are in the living room. The large
closet will keep all of your luggage out of sight. A full
size bathroom with tub and shower is nearby. Artist, Kathryn
Arnett of Atlanta, created paint finishes in a bath cabinet
and also designed the natural floral around an old mirror.

The
side porch near the inside dining area has a
round table
and chairs seating four with an outdoor
gas grill with a view
of Toxaway Mountain, mostly
visible in the winter months. There is also a picnic
table just off this porch if you prefer the warm
sun. The
back porch has no seating but a view of
the wooded area while relaxing in the Hottub.

The
front porch has four custom made rocking chairs to soak in the nature
of this very secluded cabin. Behind the chairs is an old
wall unit with hooks made from old railroad nails hungwith
an old hay rake and grain shovel. Enjoy a fun game of checkers on the middle table made by a local crafter.
The
jacuzzi on the back porch is definitely the place to hang
out. Either with someone special or to just relax and let
the swirling pulsating jets of water ease away the tensions
of your fast paced life.
We have provided a Welcome Book in the cabin with brochures and information on activities in the
area or check on our activities page, where we have provided you with many links to web sites of interest for research before your arrival.
We
hope you choose to stay in Deer Lodge.
